Your AC’s Mid-Year Performance Review
Following last week’s unauthorized release of a private family group chat, management has decided to conduct a formal review of the air conditioner’s performance.
It has not gone particularly well.
Mid-Year Report Card
Attendance: A+
Present every day. Has made this everyone’s problem.
Cooling: C−
Work submitted but failed to meet the brief.
Efficiency: D+
Uses every available resource. Achieves very little.
Communication: D
Only raises concerns once they become expensive.
Time Management: F
Performs best overnight, when nobody cares.
Reliability: C−
Results cannot be replicated under observation.
Personal Development: D
Has carried the same goals over from last summer.
Conduct: C
Loud, temperamental, and resistant to feedback.
Overall Grade: C−
Status: Requires improvement.
Attendance: A+
Your AC’s not missed a single day of work.
Clocking in early, leaving late, ignoring all labor laws.
That being said, being at work and actually working are two different things. If it runs all day without making the house noticeably cooler, we may need to discuss what it’s been doing with its time.
Cooling: C−
Cooling has been observed.
We cannot yet confirm where.
This suggests a possible issue with airflow, blocked vents, ductwork, or filters.
Please apply yourself more consistently.
Efficiency: D+
Your AC’s used a tremendous amount of energy this semester.
None of it appears to have been its own.
The electricity bill suggests exceptional effort. Conditions inside the house suggest otherwise.
Communication: D
Communication remains poor.
Rather than raising concerns early, the AC prefers to remain silent for several months before making noise.
Buzzing, banging, rattling, grinding, and whistling are not constructive. They are, however, a fairly clear request for professional attention.
Please use your words.
Time Management: F
Performance is strongest in the middle of the night.
During the hottest part of the afternoon, when its services would be most useful, the AC falls behind. We appreciate that Texas summers create a demanding working environment. We would still like some work to occur during business hours.
Reliability: C−
The AC performs well immediately before a technician arrives.
Once the appointment is cancelled, previous issues resume.
Management considers this suspicious.
Your AC may be committed to the bit, but a technician can still investigate the cause.
Personal Development: D
Several areas for improvement were identified last summer: strange noises, weak airflow, longer running times, and a general failure to cool the house properly.
No action was taken.
Management would like to clarify that ignoring a problem is not the same as fixing it.
Conduct: C
The AC is generally cooperative, but does not respond well under pressure and refuses to discuss a possible solution.
While we value individuality in the workplace, flooding the hallway is not an acceptable form of self-expression.
Final Comments
Your air conditioner has worked hard this summer, but hard work alone does not guarantee a passing grade.
If it is running constantly, cooling unevenly, making strange noises, or generally failing to meet expectations, it may be time for a professional evaluation.
Call Heritage Air Services before a minor performance issue becomes grounds for immediate termination.
