Wake Me Up When September Ends

We’re almost in the clear.

Almost!!

It's been a long summer. Pretty much the norm here in Texas. But we’re finally approaching the end of summer. Hurrah, right?

Just a little tidbit before y'all get too excited...

We’ve still got plenty of warm weather ahead, which means your HVAC system still has a job to do.

And if you’d like it to make it through the final stretch, now is an absolutely brilliant time to give it a little attention.

So to help you help your HVAC, here are a few uberrr important things to check before we can consider ourselves winter bunnies.

1. Give Your Filter a Fighting Chance

Your air filter’s spent the entire summer catching every bit of dust, dirt, and grossness floating around your house.

If it looks like it's been “through it,” replace it.

2. Go Looking for Water

No like, literally.

A clogged condensate drain can create a buildup of some seriously disgusting-looking liquid and, if left unchecked, could lead to leaks or water damage. No bueno, potato!

So if you spot water where water should not be, give us a call.

3. Let Your Outdoor Unit Breathe

Take a wee stroll around the corner of your house and see what your AC's been collecting all summer.

Leaves, grass, dirt, debris... it all builds up, and it doesn't lead to lovely things.

Clear away the obvious stuff and give the unit some breathing room.

4. Listen

Trust and believe, your AC will make strange noises when something's not right.

And they're worth paying attention to, because the jump from subtle to SUBSTANTIAL can be surprisingly tiny.

5. Don't Cover Your Vents

Have a quick look around your home.

Are your supply vents open and unobstructed, or have they disappeared behind your furniture?!

You gotta move that, buddy.

Your system needs clear airflow if you want those vents to do their job.

6. It's "Almost Fall"

Save the best 'til last, huh?

Just because September’s here doesn't mean your AC’s turning off. At least not unless you actually turn it off.

It's Texas. We ALL know the jump from 75° to 95° can happen in less than 24 hours.

Keep your system maintained and be prepared for a few more rounds of heat.

And then, finally, we can all stop pretending we're enjoying this.
