It Was the Best of Times, It Was the Worst of Times: Summer in Texas
Summer in Texas is finally winding down.
We made it.
There were 100-degree days, disgustingly high electric bills, and a million and one occasions where we questioned why we live here.
And now, can you believe, we're finally approaching holiday season. Fa la la la, amirite?
Which is lovely.
Except…
Your AC still needs you to take care of it so it can keep taking care of you. So, if y’all don't mind, we've got a few things to run by you.
Boring? Lil bit. Important? Totally. We contain multitudes.
Give your AC a break
Your AC's been working for months. MONTHS!
Have it inspected and maintained before you ask it to do anything else.
A fall HVAC tune-up can help catch worn components, airflow problems, dirt buildup, drain issues and whatnot BEFORE they turn into a repair.
Please trust us when we say… finding a problem when it’s 73 degrees outside is a lot less miserable than finding it when it’s 103.
We made those numbers us, but we don’t make the rules.
Change your air filter
I'm sorry. I'm sorry. I'm sorry.
We know we say this in every blog.
It's a tiny little chore that could save you SO MUCH PAIN. Please trust the pros on this one. We wouldn't say it this many times if we didn't mean it. Promise.
Check your filters and replace 'em if they're dirty. Remember, every 1-3 months (depending on how much you use your unit, obvi).
A clogged filter restricts airflow.
Super no bueno, you guys.
We will continue bringing this up until every HVAC filter in North Texas is changed.
Check your thermostat & heating system
Y'all are about to switch from cool air to hot air.
Totally recognize it might be a minute because Texas winter is pathetic, but it's gonna happen and we need to prepare you for when it does.
Your heating system's been completely unnecessary for months, so now is a super great time to make sure it's ready before you neeeeed it.
Oh, also... pretty good time to replace your thermostat batteries, NGL.
Tiny job. Super duper easy to forget.
Because once that first proper cold snap hits, EVERYONE remembers they have a heater.
And everyone calls.
And you can bet your bottom dollar there will be a line of people in front of you.
Pay attention to anything that seemed off this summer
AC not cooling fast enough?
One room too hot?
Awkward noises?
Higher than usual energy bill?
Make a note of that. (of those..? of the things…? IDK)
Write them down.
You may not need one of our seggsy techs to come 'round and fix 'em immediately, but it's worth having those issues checked before they're past the point of repair, ya know?
That's basically it…
Give your HVAC system a little attention now, change the filter, check the thermostat, make a note of anything weird and get ahead of repairs.
