Ice Ice Maybe

The weather in Texas has been a little all over the place lately. It was literally 35 degrees a few days ago, and we’re expecting 96 this weekend. Dunno ‘bout you, but we’ve had Katy Perry’s Hot N Cold on FULL blast this week.

SO, with this delightful oven-inspired weather heading our way, we figured it was time to tackle the number one question y’all have been Googling lately: Why is my air conditioner blowing warm air?

We got you, boo.

Here’s the honest-to-God truth, broken down so you don’t have to waste another second pretending you know what’s going on.

1. Your Filter Is Clogged

Bad news: air can’t flow through a dirty filter. Good news: that one filter we always bang on about? Yeah, THAT one. Takes 30 seconds to replace.

2. Thermostat Settings Don’t Work

They probably work. You just don’t. Folks accidentally set theirs to heat all the time. Others leave it in “vacation mode.” And I say that with authority because yours truly did exactly that last month. Super simple fix if you know where to look. And yes, I do now.

3. Your Refrigerant Is Low

ACs need refrigerant to make cold air. Without it, they’re just… blowing air. Warm air. Disappointing air.

Call a pro on this one, folks. Adding refrigerant ain't a DIY TikTok hack. Seriously! Be safe, y'all.

4. Dirty Coils or Vents

Ever vacuum after forever and see all that nasty sheet in the filter? Same same but different. Dust and grime clog coils and vents all the time. Ya’ll can totally try to clean ‘em yourself, but they’re super gross and usually a maintenance call.

5. Your System Is Old or Broken

Sometimes it’s just done. ACs have a lifespan, and if yours is past it, warm air is basically mercy. BUT, before you rush to replace it, get it inspected first. Sometimes it’s a part, sometimes it’s the whole system.

At the end of the day, if your AC is blowing warm air, more often than not it’s something you ignored. Fix the simple stuff first, and call the pros for the rest.

As always,
